2. Don't ignore the bones of the room which impacts on furniture placement.
3. Don't use your accessories in old ways.

5. Don't eliminate color from your decorating plan.
6. Don't mount window treatments even with the window frame. Move up 8" or so to give window grace, allow more light and keep the eye moving around the room. Eliminate the dead space. Make sure treatments themselves are not giving your room a dated look.
7. Don't ignore your lighting.
8. Don't keep those tired floral arrangements. Dry florals normally have a life of 2- 3 years and then should be disposed of. Silks may last longer but make sure the style of the arrangement is not dated.

10. Don't forget to create a rhythm in the room by keeping the eye moving with highs, lows and transitional areas. You don't want a stagnant even line.
